4. I Know a Flat Earther

and I don't know if the moon is flat, but I do know it emits its own light. That was a jaw dropper for me, as if the whole thing isn't jaw dropping enough. The sun is actually quite close to earth. I can't really discuss it with her because it's this whole involved theory with a lot of components that our mandatory indoctrination (school, in flat earth speak) didn't tell us about, so it's like trying to argue in a foreign language. It goes along with guns, Trump, God, and hatred of government.

2. The stupidity baffles me

When we gaze out into space, we see that, in general, astral bodies form into spherical globes because the force of their gravity works evenly around the body. The larger the object, the more likely this globe-like structure will occur.

In the observable Universe, we haven't seen a structure like a flat Earth. Why would our planet be the other one like that?

I don't know any personally, but they seem like fun people. With flat-earthers, I just start looking for a window to throw them out of.
