How is your holiday shopping going?

We got Hannukah all finished and Christmas is getting there...

So far, so good. I do everything online and have had very good experiences with the exception of Amazon (trying to get an audiobook for my grandson "Charlotte's Web" read by Meryl Streep!).

Great finds this year: "Public Garden Cloak" a fabulous work of b and w photography by Boston Globe photographer Craig F. Walker, for my Boston folk:

I can’t get out and shop anymore. Thanks, Al Gore, for inventing the internet! Sure makes our lives easier!

2. I don't shop in stores any more. I find plenty online. Plus, I find a lot more just by Googling.

I can comparison shop easily.

So far, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Boston Globe gift magazine, and good ole LL Bean have given me ample supplies!

Yesterday was Small Business Saturday and even small businesses are easy to order from online now. I felt good about that!

5. My husband and I only have to have two gifts

His family does a gift exchange for adults, and I get bookstore gift cards for the kids.

I found part of mine at Costco a couple of weeks ago, and picked out the rest to be gotten at Bed Bath & Beyond sometime in the next week or so. He has not picked out his gift yet, but I will drag him somewhere to get something this week.

Our gift to each other was our trip to the UK so we don't have to shop more than that.

Because I don't do it. I never go holiday shopping. I make nearly all my gifts and most of my friends/family don't celebrate it anymore anyway.

It’s just too difficult to go out so I’ve been doing everything online, even grocery shopping. It’s been a gift to have some sense of independence and not having to rely on others.

a CBD gift package for my mother and brother. Has an assortment of a few things that might be helpful, and got a Black Friday online deal. Going out to shop? NEVER!

I give my grandchildren money, since I don't live close enough to know their wants and needs. Easier that way.

11. There are some art museum shops that have wonderful, meaningful and inexpensive (and

pricey too for those who would indulge) gifts of great artistic merit. For instance, I bought my 3 granddaughters bangles with features celebrating 3 of the still lifes by Monet and Van Gogh that the Metropolitan Museum in NYC owns. They are not expensive and support the Met's collection. They also add to the art appreciation of my granddaughters each time they wear them. They also have great books for kids about the art there.

But I'm an artsy person so they indulge me...

Agreed that one can find nice things at museums and on their websites.

I have only one granddaughter, and she's 9. I'm artsy too, and my handwork (sewing, knitting, anything really) is pretty good, but my SIL turns up her nose at anything handmade, so I no longer can gift these kinds of things - to her or anyone else in their family. If it's a handmade object that she found at Nordstrom or Anthropology though, it's on! My son is just as bad, so no help there.

Books are a great gift, and I like gifting them. DGD is into Harry Potter now, so I might send her one of those.

My mother crocheted a beautiful tablecloth out of silk thread. Every Thanksgiving my daughter serves dinner for the whole family with that tablecloth on her table (over a white undercloth). It is a beautiful tea shade cloth and very elegant. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I always get photo gifts for family so I order those on line. I do those right away because of the time it takes to get those shipped.
