I ate a big can of green beans yesterday.

And I'm going to eat another can today.

Threw in some butter when heating them up. Square cut ends, not french style.

Freakin' things are delicious.

I'll probably have a can a day for the next year or so.

It's like when I first had an eggroll.

I liked it so much, that I ate at least one a day for the next few years.

who was a great cook and she would simmer canned green beans with plenty of butter for probably over an hour, with salt to taste. It was like the longer she simmered them, the better the taste. I could eat a plate full.

I was raised on fresh garden Southern country cooking and haven't figured out the logic of her success with green beans yet. It just works, but seems to work better with a good brand like Del Monte. I suppose the butter awakens the flavor.

Now you got me craving green beans, sautéed squash and mashed potatoes.......

That's how I'm triggered but never, never by Republicans.....

love them: hot, cold (not frozen anymore), steamed, raw, sauteed, w/ or w/o butter. There's just something about those little cabbages, and I don't really have to worry about having to share them too much.

I'm totally going to try green beans - square cut ends. - thanks.

We used to grow them in our garden and my dad would cook them w/ garlic and potato. They were delicious! You can't find them in grocery stores but they have such a different flavor than regular green beans. They are so hearty you could almost make a main dish out of them.

When I was a kid, I guess i was a bit weird. Along with my occasional NowOrLaters, I got a big can of some peas or green beans. Once, I just got the can. The clerk thought I was impoverished, and asked if I had a home... Nice of him to ask, and I sort of wish I'd taken him on his offer.

Anyway, I now realize it was the salt and sugar combined that made it taste sooo good. Kids don't know what they're missing. Now, I just buy the stuff raw at the grocery, and while it isn't the crack of artificial sugar and salt, it's pretty tasty.

Not home canned, which here in the south means that when you heat t HD em, you gave limp looking, mushy pot of something that looks like it was slow cooked for hours and would stick to any wall you threw it at. Those are nasty, and I refuse to eat them. But green beans out of the can are delicious! Regular and french style. Heat em up, butter, salt and pepper to taste. The beans have some body to them and a crispness. I always get the no salt added; to me they taste more fresh, and I'd rather season it myself.

Sandwich bag of green beans - washed and cut, then cut beans in thirds - then steam beans to half cooked.

Two medium size onions cut in cube pieces about the size of a laptop key board letter key - cook in a fry pan until barely soft - then add to 1/2 cooked beans.

Garlic - five or six good sized cloves - mash with garlic masher or cut in thin slivers - add to green beans and onions.

A can of stewed tomatoes add to green bean pot - (used a Dutch oven pot with a good lid).

Finally cook 2 or 3 lamb shoulder chops in a fry pan - cut lamb into cubes - throw the round bone into the pot too for the marrow.

Add pepper, salt, garlic powder, (cayenne pepper-optional) - to your favor/taste

Cook on low heat 1/2 hr.

=================

Good with garlic bread or Syrian pocket bread and humus.

Few cups of Red wine.
