I know that would be the case here.

Sadly, I had a sweet little bird that somehow got in here and I found it no longer alive in the corner. It may have been injured because it couldn't have been inside the house more than a few hours.

The cardinal kept it up for weeks. They think the little guy thought his reflection in the window glass was a rival male. Closing the shades seemed to help and he finally left.
Good Luck!

I was surprised he made through the whole summer. Started attacking the back door. Put a fake owl and put it on the porch and he stopped. Moved to the drive way and attacked all of our car mirrors for the rest of the summer. Had to wash poo off the mirror and doors every few days. It was a small bright red bird. Guess it was a Juvenal male. Good luck.

Three different windows and left some form of secretion with each hit. Our neighbors thought we had lost it when covered the front glass storm door with a Xmas decal, Bob, who we named him, was of course trying to get rid of the local competition for the ladies. Bob moved on to another window, we hung a Xmas Santa with bells, next window we hung a sheet. Bob then starting attacking our neighbors passenger mirror on their car.... we were then deemed sane again...

Last winter, there was a nearly nonstop stream of cardinals at the feeder. I counted one day last winter eight pairs of the in the bushes and trees around the house. This year I see maybe one single cardinal a day. They cut down a block long strip of black locusts across the street, and a half dead maple on the side of our house. Guess they moved on elsewhere. Sad. I delighted in their coming to eat outside the kitchen window. Never saw them attack the windows though

But that was only after he figured out he didn't stand a chance against a window on our camper.

Similarly, I get into it with the bastard who is always brushing his teeth in our bathroom in the morning.

There was a male robin who kept banging on my vehicle window on the daily, leaving poop all down the side of my vehicle on the daily.

There are birds who are territorial and when they see their reflection, they will "fight" their own reflection. They often injure themselves while doing this and can accidentally kill themselves in the process.

You need something to put up to keep himself from seeing his reflection OR place a reflective item as a bird deterrent. I ended up purchasing a 3 pack of disposable pie tins, hooked them together with dental floss and placed the pie tins on a garden hook. It did work to keep him away.

You can see in this photo where I placed holes in the pie tin so that I could attach them together with dental floss. Yes, I need to replace them because several high winds tore more of a hole in them rendering them useless. These lasted me for a few years.

Good luck and please let us know how it works out.
