Amazon prime's commercial - Maureen BATT "Ave Maria" (SCHUBERT)

Music and Catholicism were big growing up. Am Lapsed in both in my old age - just let what filters through from whatever ambient source (not streaming/playing it myself) for the former and secular humanism for the latter. Iow, I don't sit and play t.v./movies/music, just let whatever be for background noise.

So of all things, commercials have become a venue to steer me to a song here or there. Hence, Sia's "Chandelier" via Dior and Enya's something or other via Kraft mac'n'cheese.

So the recent thing was a soprano singing SCHUBERT's "Ave Maria," which started off after the first several times by pricking my nostalgia for my Lapsed youth, but then making me actually look to see what crass commercial product was daring to use this relic for crass commercial purposes, which turned out to be Amazon Prime. Then tracking down who the singer was. The comments to the YouTube came up with Maureen BATT several times, but some other names, too, then Shazam verified Ms BATT, fine.

The Comments were entertaining in their own right, many saying it was crass commercial outrage to put this sacred song to this use, with others marveling over the singer. Took me back to my unLapsed youth. A professor telling us about Henry VIII's break from the Church said that in the next couple of generations the adjustment of the people wasn't clean, with there being lingering nostalgia for "the Olde Religion."

It didn't bother me before but now that you mentioned it...

The accompanist must have gnawed to fit the off places in, unless she did it exactly the same every time. Tons of rehearsal!1 Barbra's is a mess.
