It really hurt the show’s authenticity. But that’s just my opinion.

Werner himself was a classical music enthusiast and played the violin.
(He played it for laughs on Hogan's Heroes, as a poor player, but really he was very good).

Klemperer refused to take the role unless nazis were displayed as idiots. The producers agreed and Werner was a marvelous Klink.

His father was Otto Klemperer.

Werner once played Frosch, the assistant jailor, in the Johan Strauss operetta Die Fledermaus.

Both Werner Klemperer and John Banner were Jewish.

He was Jewish, and died in Vienna. He said his character was a decent man who didn't want to be in the army.
