Wonderful cast and acting. Directing superb (by a woman, Greta Gerwig, and I hope she gets an Oscar). The movie will undoubtedly put off some people because of the treatment of the story but that is inevitable with a story so well read and loved.
If you have seen it, tell us what you think?

(46,088 posts)But no matter how many versions Hollywood puts out, I won't see Little Women. And I adored Jo and I adored Hepburn, who played Jo.
I have images and memories based on the book and I refuse to have them replaced with interpretations.

(65,340 posts)uncomfortable closed captioning glasses, though, so usually I just wait for a movie to show on HBO or Netflix, so I can CC it on my TV.
I did see "Bombshell" in theater last Friday. The movie was good, but the uncomfortable seat and the clumsy CC glasses gave me a stiff neck, so I might chicken out and wait for "Little Women" to show on TV.
Our theater, which I hadn't been to for about 2 years, redesigned its seating to install reclining seats, but they are NOT suited to a short (5'3" ) woman, so I was physically miserable the whole time.

(31,384 posts)Did not care for the excessive use of flashback as a storytelling device, or the heavy handed director manipulating poses, or the aggressive attempt to superimpose issues from today's society on the Civil War era of the 1860's. The attempt to take today and overlay on 1860 was made glaringly obvious by the let's hurry up and ice a sprained ankle from dancing scene. Ice for an athletic injury in 1860? Uh, no. Not happening. Wasn't known and you didn't just have a supply of ice in your freezer.
I thought the scenery was beautiful, but I didn't care for the movie.
