Need advice...

next Saturday (16th) I'm having a big ole bbq for my son's--my baby --21st birthday.

I need some ideas for sides. So far the menu is:

Chicken, hamburgs, hot dogs, tater salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs.

Chips dips etc.

I'm doing all the cooking so nothing too involved. Thanks in advance.

Easy as can be...throw it in a huge pot full of water, add some Old Bay, turn it up on high until it boils and the corn cooks. Turn it off and put the entire pot on the serving line, the water will keep it warm for hours.

1) Package shredded cabbage, or shred one head of cabbage
2) One packet cole slaw seasoning
3) One cup shelled, toasted sunflower seeds
4) One envelope of dried cranberries ("Craisins&quot
5) One and a half cups of Hellman's mayonnaise

Mix. Refrigerate. Serve.

Seasonal veggies and fruits are always great picnic fare. Jello salad also seems to be a favorite old standard...

Baked beans are traditional - there are a lot of easy online recipes that just modify the plain canned baked beans and dress them up with bacon, green peppers etc.

I'm a sucker for corn on the cob. Wrap in foil and grill along with your meats.

Sounds fun! Happy Birthday to your son (and you who did all the work then, and now!)

Does service as a dessert and a sweet treat for kids. Very little prep time and mostly liquid if the day is hot.

For those who like their veggies. I use chick peas, kidney beans and frozen or canned green beans. Very finely diced green pepper and onion, garlic powder, salt & pepper, red-wine vinegar and olive oil. For a little sweetness include a couple teaspoons sugar in the dressing. Yummy.

Toss them in a little olive oil and cook 'em till they get a little crispy on the edges. Delish with salt

Another thing good for grilling, tomatoes, zucchini, red, green and yellow peppers, chili peppers, onions and eggplant, drizzled with olive oil with maybe some herbs.

One thing I don't make often but my family loved, was red velvet chocolate cake with white icing topped with sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen) and fresh blueberries. On July 4th wedarranged the berries like a flag. How about strawberry shortcake to finish?
