Looking for Some 1970's 1980's Cold War Movie Thrillers

I watched the other night TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY (the one with Gary Oldman playing George Smiley) Then I watched THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND and then WAR GAMES. Both of those movies came out in 1983. Can anyone recommend some good 70's 80's cold war movies to watch on DVD? I've seen a lot but for some reason I'm really getting into Cold War thrillers or films from that era (I also just watched THE IRON LADY. Not a cold war thriller but the time frame was during the cold war) Thanks!

I've seen most of them but not for a while now. Thanks! Curious if anyone here has seen TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY with Alec Guiness (the BBC version) and SMILEY'S PEOPLE.

Seven Days in May to this day terrifies me. It is very timely. Thanks again!

Being a TV series it had the time to tell the full story. Further, the casting was brilliant, some of the best British character actors of the time. You'll also want to watch Smiley's People -- the showdown between Smiley and Karla.

Not exactly cold war but close enough. Paul Newman and James Mason star. It is about a British intelligence agent in prison on a deep undercover mission.

The Bedford Incident

with Sidney Poitier and Richard Widmark. I was a fan of cold war film and fiction back in the day.

And I'd better add "The Lives of Others".

Not to be missed.

Michelle Pfeiffer really doesn't cut it as Katya, but Sean Connery is his usual watchable self and has a few great lines (the one about jazz anarchists my husband and I quote all the time). Roy Scheider is in it and other great character actors.

And one of my favorite movies is a comedy, post-Cold War but still with a smattering of Russians - "Sneakers" - Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Ben Kingsley, River Phoenix, Dan Ackroyd, David Straithern ...

It wasn't to the same level of drama and sophistication as was portrayed in The Lives of Others, but for very ordinary campus activists in 1980's Leipzig, it was close enough for them.

That one is so good, from 1987, with Gene Hackman and Kevin Costner. The Recruit, from 2003, is much later, but a similar genre (spy thriller). I think you would enjoy it too -- with Colin Farrell and Al Pacino.
