Human behavior, unscientific poll.

Like many people, I like to study human behavior. I just watch and make casual observations. So I saw something that made me go, hmmm. Here's the scenario. A person walks along a private road. He sees a piece of trash, that's maybe a piece of paper folded into a quarter sheet. The paper is just a few feet from a trash can. What do you do?

Ignore it and walk on. It's trash day and the owner of the trash can will eventually see it.
0 (0%)
Pick up the paper and throw it away in the trash can.
5 (100%)
Make the assumption that the paper belongs to the nearest home, and kick it to the person's lawn.

Maybe someone dropped it and wouldn't find it if moved to the trash can . I'd leave it lunasun Jan 2020 #7

Thanks everyone. The majority selected my first choice and NO ONE selected the kicking of the trash. Baitball Blogger Jan 2020 #13

then I would put it in the doggie waste bag that I carry and toss it in the trash when I got home.

Edit: Hold on! Does the person walking on that road live on that road? I wouldn't be walking on a private road that wasn't mine.

I would like to know who was on my private road throwing trash out the window and I would be madder than a wet hen. Not because they were on the road but because of the litter.

maybe look at it first to see if it might be important and something I can return... if not, throw it away

Which affirms what I believe passes for common and uncommon behavior.
