Lounge creatures - Guitar lessons on line apps etc ? (cross posting in several forums)

Guitar lessons on line apps etc (cross posting in several forums)

So please excuse me.

I’ve decided I’m going to get something out of this situation and one of those was picking up the guitar again.

Any suggestions for FREE on line tutorials or apps?
Fender had a “free” thing going but apparently I was too late. Their “free tutorial” requires setting up payments for when it runs out.

I am looking for strumming and chords I guess. Picking at it (from my past attempts to learn) just doesn’t seem in the cards for me. I’ve tended to learn a few Christmas songs every year but then I put it back down. I’m committed to at least 20 minutes a day because I definitely have the time.

Looks like we are working at home for at least 2 more weeks. Maybe into June.

So I said, what are you going to do with this once in a lifetime opportunity? I don’t need to sit and watch ALL the death and destruction.

I made a short list
Fitness - started working out (can’t run yet), no booze, and I sort of quit smoking yesterday.
Guitar
Spanish

If I can get the ball rolling on those I think I’ll come out the other side quite fine.

Mostly Youtube links or at least some names of channels to search there. Any particular styles you want to learn just so I can customize a little along with the fundamentals. I revisited the guitar 5 years ago after 40 years of stagnation at the beginner level and now I practice every day, relieves a lot of stress.

Classic and alternative type stuff.

I’d say Beatles but the dreaded F chord.
Zep
REM
Country rock
That type stuff. FM radio

Search for bands/songs to get the best results, but here are some specs

Zep:

REM - Your homework, I figure those out on my own

Country/Blues:

Everything on Youtube is pretty easy to find.

Beatles are great to learn but only after nailing the basic chords.

F chord - I love to play six string/barre chords and practiced tilting my wrist counter clockwise with my index finger across the six strings on the first fret until it felt a little more comfortable and then fretted my other fingers to complete the chord. That's how I nailed the f chord.

take lessons from someone online. I hear they are not cheap, one of my sons does this. He teaches bass lessons. Having taught many lessons myself I just think that would be awful.

I normally play bass in two hobby bands.
Two months ago I bought a faux Telecaster from Monoprice for a hundred bucks. A very nice guitar, btw.

The thing about an electric guitar is the need for some kind of amplification.
A headphone amp and some ear buds would allow amping so only you could hear your learning experience.
A $100 dollar amp with a speaker is good for listening w/out headphones, and will suffice all the way into small venues.

So I searched through instructors and these are some of the good ones I found, basic to advanced:
