(66,327 posts)Fort Worth is one of the most appealing of the Texas accents.
I speak in a dragging San Antonio accent when I'm drunk.

(22,252 posts)I tell all my friends that if they have insomnia they can always call or text me. Sometimes it is just a long chat on Facebook or texting.
It is just worse since COVID

(66,327 posts)See? Anybody raised outside of Texas wouldn't understand that. There are many different accents in Texas, and Forth Worth is one of my favorites.

(112,146 posts)I grew up with the South Texas drawl where people talk slow. It's an interesting contrast from the East Texas accent which is closer to that heard in the other "confederate" states.
Just waking up from an evening nap and about to raid the fridge for a bottle of Purple Haze.

What happens at the witching hour?
Aristus
(66,327 posts)I've been deep in the woods as the midnight hour struck.
There's something primal about being so far from artificial light, warmth, comfort, certainty.
Something entrancing about the silence, the slow, unhurried nighttime breeze ruffling the leaves.
Something slightly disconcerting about wondering if something is behind you.
Something exhilarating about being awake when everyone else is asleep and snug in their beds.

(36,295 posts)updated my daily things to do list and got homemade meatloaf thawing on the kitchen counter. Going to hand wash the dishes that can't be put in the dishwasher or won't fit.
Exhausted from raking the yard yesterday and working in the vegetable garden, I went to bed early last night and already have my 6 hours of sleep in.
I'll head to town when it starts getting light to rake the yard at the small house, do some shopping when the store opens up and then deposit money at the bank.
