One daughter, one son, a grandson, two granddaughters, and two great grandkids (age 3 and 1)

And not one of them came by here for father's day.

And boy am I happy they didn't.

Father's day is way different from Mother's Day. Grandma would have a shit fit if all these folks didn't come out and see her. And they all know that.

On the other hand, I think they all sense that granddad would really rather be left the fuck alone for once so I had the entire day to drink beer and watch the US Open on TV.

I had a lot of scrap metal to sort through. Our yard looked like the outside of the Sanford and Son house for four days, but it and the garage are looking much better now. That's what I wanted for Father's Day - to get back at my power tools. I've got a full size drill press, band saw, radial arm saw, scroll saw, band/disc sander, grinder, router, and a bunch of hand tools and they were almost completely blocked from use. We even found R4 (my Craftsman shop vac, named after the droid in Star Wars II).

It's the simple things in life.

Including Christmas and Thanksgiving birthdays and so called mother/father/grandparent/etc. holidays. If you don't love your mothers any other day then Mother's Day will never convince you to do so.

I really did refuse to do any of these days because we just get guilted into buying crap from corporations. They love the days. I've been guilt free of these days for 20 years, and have never regretted it.
