We had a 15 x 18 area rug on the floor that the cats have ruined. And a lot of 45 years of collection in boxes, on tables on the rug. I decided to get that stinky rug out. So the last week basically moving things from one place to another. By myself. Which is fine. Today, I got the rug rolled and moved closer to the outside door. I'm planning to recycle it as weed control and bury it under a thick layer of mulch. But have an appt. for the a/c tech to come tomorrow, so I need to clear a path for him. I'll keep working on moving the rug. It has become a real challenge for me.

(17,426 posts)I had to move a large area rug like yours from my basement after a flood. It was waterlogged, which added to the weight substantially.
Be careful, and please don't hurt your back, which is easy to do with those things.

(16,959 posts)I hate water when it is somewhere I don't want it. I've been careful. I've lost weight and doing an exercise class, and I have so much more energy than I had. My back is doing pretty good keeping up with my energy! lol

(2,221 posts)So. Much. Stuff. Im thinking about putting out a couple of tables in the driveway and loading stuff on them and put a For Free sign on it!! I dont really want to do a yard sale, especially with the corona out there. If all of this stuff can find another home, Im willing to give it away!!

(16,959 posts)I started collecting things when I was 8, mostly out of my parents' and grandmother's closets and cupboards into my bedroom. Then, my husband and I collected for 45 years. After we retired, we really got into it. Now that he is gone, I don't want it any more. I have the living areas straightened around, but the basement needs attention. I was thinking that I'd be happy having the upstairs, and leave the basement as an homage to him. Lol

(23,987 posts)You could have a Giorgio Armani gown tagged at just a dollar and someone would ask if you would take 50 cents. Not worth the effort.

I made boxes and put names on them, putting things in I think the person will like or want.

(16,959 posts)a cupboard that had one leg on one edge. I don't have the strength in my hands to cut big slices. I have a good utility knife, but need better hands. I might have a guy who will take it the rest of the way out for me, if I can't make the angle.
I think I'd much rather talk about it than do it!

(16,959 posts)I was excited at my results. The a/c tech was here, so I can get back at it tomorrow.

(16,959 posts)It is in front of the shed, and covered with a tarp, because, of course, we are expecting rain :/ I got it out all by myself and right now, I am really glad I have a walkout! Also really glad I have vodka, because I deserve a drink! lol
