CONFESS!!! Last really great album you bought!

Well album, digital download, cd - however you do your music.

Now that 'Crazy, Stupid Love' is on heavy rotation on HBO I swear I watch it just to see the ending because I loved the song they close with. So last night I finally looked it up and it was done by this Australia band called The Middle East. Song is called 'Blood'

So I went to Amazon.com and opted to NOT download the soundtrack. Most of the stuff on there either I had or didn't really want. Just that one song. So I looked up the band and found the album it was on was $5 (it only has 5 songs).

What an amazing album! Been listening to it constantly. The album is called "The Recordings of The Middle East".

The band is kinda a lo-fi grooviness with some amazing harmonies. Really great stuff.

SO.....

What was the last good album you bought?

My second favorite band after Led Zeppelin is Boston.

So I bought their "Third Stage" album (have the other two)

I love them for their harmonies.

Their song "Hollyann" reminds me of my youth and makes me cry

Fell in love with the band on the spot. I described them as the Black Crowes if they replaced their lead singer with Janis Joplin.

Thing is they opened for North Mississippi All-Stars and honestly I thought Alabama Shakes was much better.

I read up on it on Wikipedia, and knowing what it is about helps to make sense of the three "Crane Wife" songs. I also understand that "The Island" is loosely based on William Shakespeare's "The Tempest". But who cares. How could I not love an eleven minute prog-rock epic with a subsection titled "You'll Not Feel the Drowning"?

Scott Walker - 30th Century Man

Here's the trailer:

He was in the Walker Brothers in the 60's and since then, he's made just a few albums.
His music is so weird and haunting, that I bought "The Drift" on iTunes.

Here are a couple of his songs, so you get an idea:

From the Walker Brothers in the 70's, when he started getting really weird:

Before that, I believe the last full album I bought was The Beatles Love album:

Hi,
Their work varies, this is one of their more accessible albums, whatever that means. Plus between some songs it has this funky guy talking.

Peace
