Edward G. Robinson's "little man" is unforgettable. Equally unforgettable and powerful to me is that scene when Fred MacMurray's character is in the hills behind the Hollywood Bowl with Barbara Stanwyck's step-daughter, and the step-daughter is confiding in him about her suspicions about her step-mother, unaware that the man she's sharing these confidences with is the man who murdered her father. And some powerful music, Schubert's "Unfinished" symphony, is playing at the Hollywood Bowl. That music seems SO appropriate to that scene. What a great movie. I'm not watching it now because I watched it just a couple weeks ago, but I've seen it umpteen times in my life and I'll never get tired of it.
