In 1974, when leisure suits were the fashion rage for men, I decided to sew one for Mr. froggy. I bought a leisure suit sewing pattern, some plaid polyester double-knit fabric, and I cut it out. Id barely started sewing it together when I became a regular cast member in summer mellerdrammers performed in Deadwood, SD. Mr. froggy and I, along with our three young children, lived there at the time. I didnt get around to finishing the leisure suit.
Until yesterday.
It would have fit Mr. froggy in the 70s, but now its several sizes too small for him. At least I think it is. He refuses to try it on. Thats gratitude for you.
Mr. froggys is burnt orange, gray, tan and white. Very understated and classy.

(12,153 posts)on men! Do you have any pictures of yourself wearing your awesome burnt orange one before your sister swiped it? :-D
I still had my Liz blouse till a few years ago. I think it was from the 60s, not the 70s, though. Liz blouses had high ruffled collars and were styled after the blouses Elizabeth Taylor wore for a time to hide her tracheostomy scar.
Then there were the Ben Casey shirts. I didn't have one, but that's because I didn't like Ben Casey.

Not my pic, but that's pretty much what the look was.

(23,272 posts)he'd gone away for the weekend without me and I took the opportunity to help him clean out the closet way back in the day.
I just recently discovered (26 years later) that he had managed to squirrel away the matching polyester fat tie that went with it. He lost his competition tie and instead wore his 2nd fave - the burnt orange/tan/plaid tie from that damn suit.
So now the plan is afoot as to how to get the tie from its hiding spot and send it on to a new owner..... In fairness to him, he only has ever owned 2 ties so I presume he had to wear something. I'll also say he only has one suit - the one we were married in 26 years ago and which presumably he'll be buried in - I'm just glad its not the peach leisure suit!!

(12,153 posts)the burnt orange/tan/plaid tie would go with Mr. froggy's new leisure suit! (I'm going to donate it to Good Will. Maybe someone would want it for a Halloween costume.)
The peach leisure suit sounds lovely. I don't know how you could bear to let it go. lol
