A wildlife enthusiast who set up a camera trap in the woods hoping to capture a bobcat on film returned to find an hilarious photoshoot posed by a passer-by instead.
Jeff Wirth, a conservationist and wildlife tracker from Washington State, was inspired to set up a camera after exploring a wetland area created by beavers and noticing signs that a bobcat had also been in vicinity.
The homemade camera trap was programmed to detect movement and when it was triggered, the camera and flash would spring into action and take a series of photos.
Returning to the site each week to check the footage he had obtained, Jeff was left disappointed until he came across a sequence of images left by an unexpected visitor.
It captured a man in a hi-vis vest who had stumbled across the camera and seized the opportunity to pose for a series of photos lying playfully on a fallen tree trunk.
Jeff had returned to the site on a regular basis to change the batteries in the camera and said:
"I got a few images of critters including raccoons, weasels, a few bobcat photos, and a number of birds, but nothing I was super happy with so I left the camera there.
"As you may notice, he was not camera-shy, to say the least.
"He hammed it up pretty good and left me with a sequence of images in a variety of poses."
