because it's a wolf. I think they are still listed as endangered in NY. Those wolves are in a sanctuary so they are healthy. They usually look scrawny except in winter.

Hopefully they make sure pups get the nourishment they need.

look a bit scrawny. It's a sanctuary, they are tended to so not starving. The pup looks like it's just out of the den so only a few weeks old. The older one is the minder who watches the pups while the rest of the pack would be out hunting for food if they were in the wild.
