5 months later, I fear my parody of "in the Time of Pandemic" will prevail

To repeat:

In the Time of Pandemic my retort

And the people stayed home. Except for the sudden urges to visit grocery stores and fight over TP.
And have themselves and any dogs walk on others’ lawns because the parks were closed. And the bored kids threw the “doggie bags” into neighbors’ trash carts.

And they read dusted-off books, and listened to the radio for once, and rested at least 6 hours a day, and exercised at least once a week by skateboarding in empty parking lots and golfing, and made art, and played computer games until their fingers hurt, and learned new ways of being on the Internet, and were still except for fingers typing on devices.

And they listened more deeply to themselves. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced on their porches and got cited for attracting crowds. Some met their shadows from past trauma. And a few people began to think differently.

And the surviving people healed. Outwardly, a few inwardly.

And, in the absence of most people being able to afford living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. Until the majority of under-50s finally found employment again.

And when the danger passed, and the people drew back apart, they grieved their losses, and made new choices on them and theirs getting ahead through the right college major, and dreamed new dreams of wealth, and created new ways to live and exploit the earth fully, as they had not been healed.
