Had an interesting evening . . .

So I'm just sittin' here in my scenic overlook and waiting for the Convention to start when I see this young woman in the street making agitated gestures at the blue mobile home across the street, the one with the Confederate flag. She seemed to be prepared to leave on foot. Next thing ya' know an older woman, late '50s?, comes out of the house and a very agitated conversation ensued. By now I have my binoculars out 'cause this looks like it could get interestin'.

Sure 'nuf things escalate in very short order. Older woman lands a pretty clear round house on the younger one then there was a clean break so it looked like it was coolin' down but Nooooo, younger woman had more to say. 'Bout then the older woman opened up a can o' whup ass on her like I never seen! I'm thinking this could be more then jus' interestin' as the older woman has 40 pounds on the younger one but then there's the youth and athleticism to consider. Youth lost out this time as older more experienced comes at her like a windmill, hell, two windmills with both arms makin' big circles and landing blows with every swing. I call the local constabulary (have direct line on speed dial) but the phone is busy. Whoda' thought? By now old has young on the ground in the middle of the street wailing on her. I call 911 and as the dispatcher answers the first police car shows up. Only one cop dealing with a domestic disturbance an' that ain't good.

So he separates the combatants and has a brief conversation before hand cuffing young one. She's bleeding from at least two places on her face so he does the flashlight in the eye test for concussion an' puts her in the back seat of his cruiser. Now he engages the older woman just in time for the man of the house to get involved; beer belly, tattoos and a wife beater shirt. Cop's not havin' any of it. Points to tattooed one, points to house and wife beater shirt vacates the area.

'Bout now the second police cruiser shows up. First cop still interviewing older woman and second is seeing to younger which is in the back seat of the first cruiser. Third police car shows up, this one the county sheriff.

'Bout now beer belly comes back out and the county sheriff is occupied with him. Now the forth local cop car shows up. This little town only has four police cars and three of them are in my front yard plus the county cop.

Now everybody has their own police officer to talk to with much waving of arms and pointing at various other people being interviewed. About now the EMS arrives and younger woman is moved from cruiser to Medic's wagon. It looks like a Christmas tree convention, all we're missin' is a choir.

I was hopin' they'd cuff 'em all and let the judge sort 'em out but that didn't happen. Tattooed beer belly and older woman got to stay home for tonight and younger woman went to hospital and/or jail.

Then it's all over and it's dark and quiet again. I'd like to know what it was all about but not enough to put my nose in anybody else's bidnez. Give it week and I'll have some version o' what happened. How much of it resembles what actually happened I'll never know.

Just another night in small town red state Texas . . .

That sounds more like a Friday night activity to me. Folks in Arkansas are more conventional.

for assault? How does it work that the one who needed medical attention is the one cuffed and hauled off?

You'd think she was black or something.

First, de-escalate then figure stuff out. The younger woman was injured, I don't know if she went to jail or to hospital. One thing for sure, it ain't over . . .

raising hell at someone’s house is at bit iffy. I’m assuming that is what it’s about.

Please update if you hear something.

Young woman is/was part of the household along with a man about her age. He was not in evidence today but there have been issues between the two of them that spilled into the street as well.

There may be substance abuse involved by someone but as I said elsewhere I keeps to m'self a bit.
