(65,409 posts)me. We'll probably just pick up a pizza, since they do curbside, and we'll maintain social distance, but it will be good to see him. I have been isolating myself quite thoroughly except for a grocery run every 2 or 3 weeks. I'm just going to take a small risk to celebrate my birthday and hope for the best.
Here in Kansas it's not too bad yet except for a couple of places.

(18,402 posts)and join the crowd. The big seven-oh happened to me back in March. I had to make my own birthday dinner, since there was no way we were going out, and the whole restaurant take-out thing wasn't quite off the ground yet. Frankly, I was happy to have that birthday fly under the radar. Though, sadly, it's my son's birthday too, and we usually celebrate together. It was a Zoom joint birthday this year.

(18,402 posts)Seventy is not that old (yeah, I've got the pain in the hip and the occasional unidentified bruise). At least when I think about my parents: my dad lived to 100 and my mother, still living, will turn 95 soon. She still calls me her cute baby. (She doesn't see well.)
I get depressed about the skin and the hair and all sometimes, and then I kick myself in the pants and try to accept it gracefully. 70 is an awkward age: I refuse to feel old till I'm 85.
At least we can be young at heart, which I'm sure you are.

Hint: Google "Qualified Charitable Distribution". Next year, you'll be eligible for this benefit, if you have an IRA. It's a good one, passed by congress, signed by BHO.

(65,409 posts)a lot of time that day and yesterday on the phone fielding calls from family and friends, and also had a socially distanced dinner with my best friend the evening of my birthday. I hadn't seen him in person since early March, so it was very nice.
