I seldom listen to her (TuneIn), but when she isnt on a script and has to be on her feet she sounds just lost.
Is she ill?

(6,796 posts)must catch up with brain. Not sure which one. If caught off guard she cannot think quickly and she stammers, hesitates, stumbles. Been like that forever. She once interviewed Fidel Castro and her fame was instantaneous.
Under The Radar
(3,401 posts)She is having trouble finding the proper vocabulary and the proper terminology in an open conversation and she stumbles a bit. It is age, I saw the same with Robert Mueller. He was so very quick and sharp in his FBI director testimonials but stumbled constantly in Testimony of his investigation. Nancy Pelosi is also suffering from The same symptoms. They are all still sharp, just not very quick.
I have often wondered if that is why Bob Woodward speaks so slowly and deliberate.

(7,849 posts)My 48 year old daughter and 23 year old granddaughter sometimes "reach for words"...so again the age thing is crap...Andrea Mitchell has nothing to say..nothing to add to the political discourse...she's openly hated the Clintons from the moment they came onto the political scene, and she's hated Hillary in particular... she gave the rancid Republicans a pass in favor of access...as for Mueller, he was so hamstrung by Rosenstein, Barr, and Trump he was having difficulty parsing his words..careful to not overstep or reveal too much... the would-be savior was a pawn and it was sad to watch...as for Pelosi, that filter in her brain that says "shut up, don't say that" is gone and she's free to call it like it is...backlash be damned...

(3,401 posts)I am only 4 years younger than you, and I see the decline in myself as well as other friends.
We are all different sir but the medical evidence has been clear, we lose a step with age mentally as well as physically. Just watch tape of all of those public figures in their younger days verses their last broadcast. The difference is obvious.

(11,862 posts)the older I get the more words have either been misfiled or have cobwebs settled over them. (I think of my vocabulary as as a card file that I can search)
Since not working with many different folk, I just don't need to conjure words like I used to.
Under The Radar
(3,401 posts)Since I have a phone that no longer requires me to remember numbers, I cant remember anyones but my own.
Since there is auto correct and spellcheck technology, I become frustrated trying to write by hand and pausing to temper the correct spelling.
We feel better physically when we have a physically active routine, so it appears that the same is true of the brain.
Stay strong my friend.

(23,668 posts)Hopefully we'll elect a President who will be 78 in Nov. Mitchell Is not a favorite of mine, but her age has nothing to do with it. Regardless of her slant on the news, she's sharper than many on cable news.
