Ingenious Bed Frame Has a Place for Cats to Play While Their Humans Rest (Original Post) Demovictory9 Nov 2020 OP

My cats wake me up enough -- on purpose by all available evidence -- that I don't need to make it easier for them by putting a human-inaccesible playground twelve inches directly below my sleeping body. Save it for living rooms and other places where humans are mostly awake.

I have a couple of cats, and in no time there would be a couple more under the bed with all the shedding. Between dogs and cats, it’s already a jungle under the bed.

Though, actually some of the cat scratch things have replaceable cardboard inserts. so that is doable.

Or just keep the packaging and fold it up as replacements. IKEA could plan on that as part of the flat pack!

Mattress on a framework of drawers with a storage space down the middle. My ferrets loved it. They could open the door to the storage space which gave them access to the backs of the drawers which they then could crawl into and sleep amongst my socks.

The Hooman?

Probably not so much.

Giving cats a place to hide that's really difficult for you to access as an owner ... turns out to be a drag in a variety of scenarios.

And then there's the sleeping part.

Might as well wrap all your bedposts with carpet.

May be if you started with a kitten it could be trained more I guess to go in all the time but even in the picture the cat is on the top of the bed
One could keep a pair of bedroom slippers off the floor in those holes I suppose

I have had several cats over the years that would have seen that bed as the perfect kitty latrine.

Not our forever bed frame but it was a good price (free). It’s modern but heavy and has drawers on the side. It’s basically a box like the one shown in the OP.

There is just enough space on one corner - we use a futon mattress- for our cat to slip in. She can’t go far but she can go far enough to drive us completely nuts. She goes in there and meows. Even though she can get out.

Would not want her to play too.

or take the cat to the vet? My cat runs under the bed if I just go near the cat carrier.
