Holiday Cards of all types

I have been following several discussions on another forum about holiday cards.
The struggles seem real.

So, tell us about your holiday cards

It is a harmless holiday tradition. I guess I send them because I enjoy receiving them. Some job security for the post office. 😌

them and receiving them. I hang them up and then keep ones I really like up. I don't feel any kind of way about people who don't send them. Although I do admit to a passing, "You're retired but you can't send Christmas cards?" thought, it is just a snark. I send to whom I want whether they send or not. I do get fewer and fewer. Don't really get what so hard about a nice tradition, but whatever floats your boat.

6. In one case, the mother in law got a newborns photo on *her* card before the new parents could

The new parents should send the first cute kid photos, not the in laws. I agree with the angry new parents FTR.
The discussion then devolved from there. Some families suck.

I'm also a rabid environmentalist and can only envision them ending up in a landfill after the holidays - maybe not all of them, but most of them do.

Also, maybe some retired people don't have much money to live on and they have to be very careful with their spending.

Just two scenarios you may not have thought of.

One sent me a sweet email yesterday after getting her card. She said I am the only one she gets each year. Everyone likes getting mail that isn't a bill, especially at Christmas time.

The cards come to me from charities asking for money. I have more cards and calendars than I know what to do with.

When I send the cards, they are merely containers for checks. I don't expect the cards get read, saved, or displayed. The checks get cashed.
