in the new neighborhood. May have been left by the last occupants of the house. We call him Tiger; biggest cat on the planet. We're having fun with him, but he has a little wild streak. I think he would be pressing the MAD button a lot.

a means for cats to communicate. Chimps and gorillas, yeah. But not cats.

My cat has no means to express words, but she does comprehend quite a few: hungry, treat, here/come here, no, ok, good girl, bad girl, play, ouch, plus the names of several of her toys.

I read about cats blinking to express affection, agreement, and truce after hostilities. So I tried blinking at my cat and she returned the blink. She seems to have developed her own uses for it. When I suggest a toy or activity, she seems to be using a blink to say yes. If she is not interested in my suggestion, she just turns away or lies down.

She is not a vocal cat. Very rarely meows. But she does little trills and chortles. And other things to communicate, like pacing near the cupboard where her food is, slapping me when angry, nudging to be petted, knocking stuff to the floor for attention.

Cats are smarter than people give them credit for.
