I really don't want half of my face covered with this ugly crap

(32,009 posts)My lenses were too thick and they couldnt make glasses with wire rim frames out of Coke bottles. 😁 Now they can make them thinner.
I have light brown plastic frames now but next time I want the wire rims.

(115,735 posts)and I don't care for them at all. They overwhelm the wearer's face so all you can think about is the big weird glasses. IMO they are a bit clownish, but I'm not a fashion maven so what do I know?

(11,362 posts)"Big" is a real asset to those of us who need trifocals or progressive lenses. Frames that are smaller (top to bottom) leave very little room for that middle distance prescription, which makes it harder to see.

I have a fair assortment, but I mainly stick to black or tortoiseshell.

Step 2, add a few coats of nail polish
Step 3, balance the results on your nose
Functional? Practical? Visually appealing? Irrelevant!

(20,202 posts)I'm 64 tomorrow and got my first pair of glasses 1965. They had 3 pairs for little girls. All were a cat eye shape more or less. They had baby blue, pink and grey. I went with the grey.
Glasses got progressively more expensive. I started buying them online about 10 years ago and never looked back. Most are black or tortoiseshell, but I've had red, purple and blue too. My next pair are going to be some aviator sunglasses with Biden Blue lenses!
