I think he still will what I have seen in the past. He is all that until he gets behind me, lol. This is good. Maybe the two dog scenario helps but the first one immediately gets in between. And the little was going for the dudes ankle, then started checkin on person. Cool

I had a Golden Retriever who would protect me if someone tried to hurt me. I had a mini Shnauzer who I have no doubt would have protected me. My German Shepherd service dog who loved people would have torn an attacker to shreds.

I have had other dogs of many different breeds including two Doberman Pinchers and another German Shepherd who would would have run.

Don't assume any particular breed will be more protective than another.

at that point, i get serious about instilling better habits. this guy needed some real pro training. he rly was the worst pup.

my bully, now, he almost didnt need any training. neither did his half brother, even tho that boy was all drive. he went to boot camp at 18 mos, and was a solid boy after that.
he was my guardian, but i lost him in the divorce.

biff is scary looking when he is barking at you, but he's pretty slow out the gate. i'd have to be attacked on my couch.

One would bark ferociously, then go hide behind the toilet, the big girl would not even wake up, and the biggest guy would think it was all great fun. I think.

Now....the Mini-Dachshund might be a different story.

But he'd totally protect me. (He's worth his weight in pet food,

You tube has videos of protective cats. One is a cat chasing a bear away from a house. A few years ago, there was a viral video of a cat that body slammed a dog who was attacking a child, then chased the dog away.

When my ex and I separated, I got a black angora mix kitten that bonded strongly with me. When the cat was about a year old, I took him with me on a visit to the ex's place when we had to discuss a few things. I sat in a chair and Merlin (the cat) curled up on the floor for a nap. Soon, the ex and I started arguing, as usual. Ex walked toward me, poking his finger in the air for emphasis.

In a flash, Merlin was standing in my lap, back arched, fur straight up, hissing and growling ferociously at the ex. He had one paw raised up, with claws extended. The ex called him a "perverted cat," then stormed out the door and drove off. Merlin jumped down to the floor and attacked one of the ex's socks that he had left on the floor. He shook the hell out of that sock, snarling like a dog. I was astonished, but the sight of him attacking that sock was hilarious.

would definitely attack. We’ve poured a lot of $ into training once we realized how big he would be. He was a lab “mix”, and that includes American bulldog and mastiff.

He’s always on.

One was a black lab mix that we had when I was a teen. My sister and I used to test him by pretending to hit each other, or having a friend do it. The dog immediately got between us, growled a warning, and faced off against the one doing the hitting.

The other dog was a border collie that I had in my 20s. One day I tied his leash to a guard rail while I went into a neighborhood convenience store, then set down my purse to untie the leash when I came out. Halfway across the parking lot, I realized that I'd left my purse on the ground. A guy was looking inside it and I called out that it was mine. He ran around the corner of the store with the purse and the dog was pulling hard on the leash, so I let it go. Faster than lightning, the dog was after him. When I got around the corner of the store, the dog had the guy cornered between the building and a dumpster. The guy tossed the purse toward me but the dog did not let him go until I called him back.

Border collies are amazing. He was so attuned to my voice and body language that he knew something was wrong.

Big boy. 105 lbs. Shepherd/mastiff mix. But I have no illusions -- he'd absolutely high-tail it out of Dodge if the sh*t hit the fan.

Now, I was walking down the street the other day (without my dog) and a fellow was approaching with a rottweiler. I gave them a wide berth and I looked over at the dog just as they were about to pass. That dog had its eyes locked on mine, not like it was curious, but like, "You make one false move and I'll be all over you."
