Especially when it's breakable stuff or someone's taken the first few things and you can't see if there are more items farther back.

6. Right if it's visible and not heavy, you can at least jump up and down to reach and move it forward.

My daughter is very short (4ft 10in) and when she was a teenager, I was showing her how to jump up and gradually move
an item on the top shelf forward enough to get it.

I happened to notice at the end of this lesson, a tall man had been observing us and he looked amazed. I guess it never occurred to him how hard it is to reach a top shelf.

Right I hate it when there is an item on a high shelf you want, the spot looks empty and you cannot see if it is there further back.
