poured about 2 cups of liquid into it withOUT the liner in. Don't do that. Don't do that. It's been drying out for 72 hours, but is deader than a doornail.
Prime day on Amazon in coming up. Hope I can get a deal.
I the meantime, did you know they have these things called "stew pots?" You put your food in them, put them on top of the stove and turn on the heat. Voila! Not as fast, but hey, it works in a pinch.
RIP little instant pot.

(14,742 posts)Condolences. I have caused the demise of many electrical and electronic devices through the momentum of my own stupidity.
The good news is they keep coming out with new features and contraptions like souve and air frying. The pot is dead; long live the pot!

(102,236 posts)making sure they are lined up across the pan before I pour. Good luck with getting a deal. I use mine at least twice a week to make yogurt and bought an extra inner liner pot so that I can cook other things while the yogurt cools in the refrigerator.

(9,580 posts)and I think the cheapest 6 QT was about $89. Sounds high to me. I had gotten the dead one from my DIL for a gift about 2 years ago.

(11,913 posts)It was a new gift from my son and his GF. I quickly ordered a replacement from Target and didnt let them know I ruined their gift. Target did price matching plus 10%. So it turned out to be a decent price. We kept the inside pot. Now as soon as we pull the pot to serve or clean up, the 2nd pot immediately takes its place.
Im sure this is a really common problem.

(9,580 posts)I had googled it, and it sounded so easy to dry out. But not for me. And like an idiot, when it was happening, I just kept pouring, looking on in shock at what was happening.

(26,109 posts)As soon as one is washed and dried I stick it in the instant pot. I am the original klutz in the kitchen, so I'm really surprised I haven't killed mine off yet, too.

(9,580 posts)slow cooker, make yogurt. If you're happy with your pressure cooker, I wouldn't change it. Go look on youtube for instant pot recipes and see how much is out there! It's amazing.

(1,847 posts)How long has instant been around? I always thought growing it took substantial time. Sorry to hear that it's so sensitive to overwatering!
And available on Amazon! I might have to reconsider my (personal) Amazon boycott.
