Those fields of wildflowers - one of my favourite vistas - must be fairly rare. I bet those houses are very heavily timbered to hold that weight.
There is a "wide spot in the road" along the Alberni Highway, just north of here about an hour or so. There's a market with a low-slope roof planted with grass, as well. They have goats that graze the roof, but I bet they're not up there these days. The goats are quite a tourist attraction, and the second-biggest draw is, believe it or not, cinnamon buns. People have arrived from as far away as CA, looking for them.
