I am a Santana-lover since their early years, when they played for free at Mission Dolores Park.
(across from Mission High School)

Though I hadn't heard it was questioned. I'm reading 'One Way Out' by Alan Paul (about the Allman Brothers) & several people interviewed all said the same thing, including Jim Gordon, Bobby Whitlock who was supposed to have come back to do it & Tom Dowd who recorded & engineered it.
