Does anyone feel bad all over if they get a cold sore?

I haven't had a cold sore for a long time. This appeared Fri. afternoon. It hurt pretty bad by Sat. evening. I have some Frankinsense essential oil and dabbed some of that on. It really helped, but Sunday and yesterday, I felt yucky. I feel better today. Just wondered if other people feel under the weather when they get a cold sore?

I very seldom get a cold sore but consider them a minor irritation. I always treat mine abqtommy Aug 2021 #12

I feel embarrassed. I know it's silly, but I do.

Some countries sell Zovirax over the counter. In the US we need a prescription. It's such bs.

I put lysine on it and take lysine pills when I get one to try and shorten it. I think it just has to run it's course like any virus.

hope you feel better soon. (stress and sun seem to bring them on)

Most of the ones I got were not noticeable. I was surprised at how well the frankincense worked. I had it left over from a few years ago, wasn't sure it was still potent.

We used Abreva with good luck.

Mine tended to appear when I got some other disease (cold, flu, etc), or extreme stress. I've been on Acyclovir for years now and have had maybe 2 outbreaks since.

I haven't had a cold sore in maybe the last forty years (I'm 62), but the viruses are for keeps, so it's hard to figure, especially given that I've had some exceptionally stressful experiences during the interval.

no clue where I got the virus. I spoke to my doctor and he prescribed valacyclovir and acyclovir cream.

I hadn't had one for many years, and due to current stress, one started. I felt the lump and tingling and started treatment immediately. Knocked it out in a day or so.

No more huge, oozing, crusty sore lingering for weeks. Miracle meds

I am over-thinking, wondering if covid intensified the symptoms. I hope fellow DUers who suffer from cold sores are spared now and forever
