(12,585 posts)3. The ventriloquist is British comedian Nina Conti.

She was having a normal actor's career in a variety of television and stage roles until her mentor suggested she give ventriloquism a try. She found her niche in the world she created with her dummies -- especially Monkey, who is featured in the above bit. Over the years her style has changed from a carefully crafted show to one which depends more on her quick-witted improv skills. One bit involves enlisting members of the audience as human "dummies":
Conti did a brief television series called "Life with Monkey," where she wore the puppet -- who speaks irreverent unfiltered stream-of-conscious sentences-- for the entire day and night for a week. My favorite parts of the series are when they go to the gynecologist and when she gets pulled over by the police.
If you're ever feeling blue, check out Nina Conti's YouTube videos. I guarantee they will lift your spirits.

I believe they were created/designed/came from the mind of Joel Hodgson of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame.
