Has anyone seen the movie 'In Time'. It was interesting
The acting was ok at best. Amanda Siegfried was absolutely wretched, Justin Timberlake was ok.
The plot was interesting and a bit of an analogy of what is happening in society today.
In a nutshell, modern technology and medicine has allowed for humans to stop aging at age 25. However when you turn 25 your 'clock' starts. You are given one more year to live and if you want to live longer you work and earn time that way. Essentially Time has replaced currency for the method of paying for everything. Everyone has a time clock on their arm and time can be transferred between 2 people by contact. That also means that time can be stolen too. Because of how things are setup, there is segregation between the wealthy (who have hundreds of years left) and the poor (who are basically living 'day-to-day', earning enough to keep them alive just one more day).
It wasn't the best acted movie but it just reminded me alot of what is happening in society today. In the ghetto, where people are literally living day-to-day, it's not uncommon to see people dead in the streets, crime is high (time theft) and they even have time loans where the interest rates are 30%. The wealthy stockpile the time and they live in their own community (it took a year worth of time for Justin to travel from the Ghetto to the rich neighborhood). In a nutshell, when the population of the poor get out of control the rich simply raise prices for everything.
Wasn't sure if anyone saw this movie (it's on HBO) but although the plotline was a bit convoluted at time and some of the casting choices were a bit odd, it did have a decent plot line and very relevant to what is happening today in the world.
