For first dance with her dad. Some of the songs suggested by the dj strike me as either borderline incestuous or creepily possessive. She isn't our possession after all.
Anyone got any ideas?
Preferably not too twangy.

Personally, I would skip the whole shebang and save the $$.

For my oldest son's wedding, we danced to "I Will Always Love You", Dolly Parton version...another goodie.

Besides, it was George's last composition before he died and Ira's last collaboration with his brother. The lyrics are actually a tribute to George from Ira.
Although it is a beautiful love song useful for any occasion it works very well for a non romantic situation - since that was its original meaning.

(10,885 posts)Don't rely on the DJ to have it on hand. Ours didn't have "I Hope You Dance", even though it was current at the time. Luckily I brought my copy and gave it to the couple as a memento afterwards.
Have a wonderful time at the wedding!

(25,327 posts)I wonder if this song was ever played as a bride and groom's dance?? LOL
"Shotgun weddings" were still a thing back then. (Although guns were no longer involved)
