Has your enjoyment of an entire movie ever been ruined by a single line of dialogue?

Something that just bugs and annoys you for the rest of the film, even if it wasn't anything central to the plot?

For me, it would probably have to be the 2010 movie Easy A, a comedy starring Emma Stone.

As it stands, the movie was fairly forgettable as it was. I think it aspired to be like Mean Girls, but it just lacked the overall heart and wit of that film, and therefore never got any of the acclaim that movie got.

Anyways, there was some part in the movie where one of the characters gets syphilis and then moves to Florida, and the narrator says something to the effect of, "If there's something worse than syphilis, it's Florida."

I mean, it was a throwaway line, and also, even as a Floridian, to some extent I get it.

A lot of crazy stuff happens here (or more accurately, a lot of crazy stuff gets reported on, because of easier access to public records than other states) and most of our elected officials suck royally. And now we're stuck with Trump living here, no less. Plus you have every hack comedian throwing out lazy-ass "Florida Man" jokes as if it's something that's remotely still witty.

But even so, I like living here, I think on the whole, it's a great place to live, I'm proud to be a Floridian, and I don't care much for slander of my state.

Probably the first time I actually was like, "Oh, fuck you" to a movie.

on the writers' part. Like it came out of a standard movie-script playbook.

"Show me the money!"

Too trite and predictable, stereotypical to me. But others loved it and still do today, apparently. So...

I was watching that Dennis Leary series "Rescue Me" for awhile and then saw the episode where he raped his ex-wife and then walked out smiling and the show treated his character sympathetically... it was completely repulsive to me and I never watched another minute of that shit nor can I stomach Leary to this day.

“They’ll never know what you sacrificed for them.” It totally ruins Monica Rambeau's character.

It's truly the stupidest line ever in a movie. Not that it was a great film to begin with, but that line stood out as totally dumb.
