(57,083 posts)... a scary place in the fifties and sixties. And more so after I saw 'Deliverance'. Yeah, I know, Deliverance was set in VA, but it looked a lot like WVA.
We had family in Beckley, WVA. Being the only longhair in town kept me on the farm when we visited.

(16,079 posts)Every year we visit my in-laws, who live in PA. To avoid I-81 we take SR 522 through Berkeley Springs...once we get to the VA/WV border the road narrows from 4 lanes to 2 lanes and it stays that way until we cross the WV/MD border and get onto I-70.
I guess it's no surprise that WV is #50 when it comes to its infrastructure!
