Then, I have to write another list that has only one thing on it:
1) Don't forget to read "To-Do" list.

(24,612 posts)I must have a grocery list if there is more than one item.

(17,459 posts)My mom is now passed on, but years ago, I used to do her grocery shopping for her.
She would give me a list of what she wanted, and each time, for years, the list had a line that said "7 bananas".
Always 7. Not a bunch of bananas, not a few bananas, always 7 bananas.
One time, I shorted her and only got 6.
She reamed me out for doing that.
Our funny mom memories keep us going long after they have passed.

(17,459 posts)but the time frames varied, so it wasn't a banana every day for 7 days. Sometimes it was 10 days, sometimes 4 days, sometimes 14 days, etc.

(4,846 posts)She writes down what she needs to buy when she goes shopping but then forgets to read the list when she is shopping. So she still forgets to buy some of the items needed.

(14,039 posts)I routinely lose paper lists between the store parking lot and the produce department.
Last shopping trip I was so wrapped up in making sure I had a good backup photo that I left a wad of thoughtfully selected coupons on the kitchen table.
I don't fret much about this sort of thing personally, but I know my lack of focus and my inefficiency frustrate my wife, so there are innumerable good reasons for getting my shit together.
I think thinking too much interferes with my mental processes. I think.
