Hey Grandpa. What's for supper?

Calf liver and onions cooked in bacon on the griddle. Mashed potatoes and brown gravy. Squash with more onions from the griddle.

1. Is that a menu to make sure the grandkids don't stick around for dinner?

Add a dessert of green gelatin and you are guaranteed that they will run out the door.

2. Oh, I don't know. The grandson is willing to try anything Grandpa makes on the griddle.

It really was good.

6. My Dad made that dish regularly exactly as you describe it

Liver and onions has been made fun of here over the decades, but as a kid I loved it and miss his cooking. That was good stuff.

7. It really is good.

If only I didn't have to handle the stuff raw.
