The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo...I'm migrating to a new bubble.
Long story short: Catastrophic plumbing event. My bedroom and my bathroom including the wall separating the two need to be redone immediately and I cant live here while its being done.
Other members of my household are going to my SILs moms house. But Im the odd man out and I have to go stay with my sister and her son. Were all completely vaxxed and boosted and their bubble is as tight as mine. Tighter, actually.
Im taking a home test before I go, just for their peace of mind. My questions are: They dont have to take one, right? Isnt this just like me going home for Xmas or something?
I hadnt actually thought it through until just now, and any ideas and suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

(1,850 posts)That's my initial reaction. But they're doing you the favor by letting you stay there, and certainly have the right to ask you, especially if they are very cautious.
You also have the right to ask them to take a test, but how important is it to you? You said you were doing it for their peace of mind. Could you ask them to take one for yours? Maybe tell them you were thinking about it and realized it would be a good idea for everyone's peace of mind if you all got tested. Or if you told them you were telling some (DU) friends about the situation and they suggested everyone should get tested before gathering together. Host should not be exempt, especially with covid omicron running rampant, whether vaccinated or not.
Vaccinated people are mostly safe if we are exposed to covid. We may or may not catch it.
But if we do we can spread it, whether we are asymptomatic, or feel under the weather, or feel like crap, I just bought a home test to have on hand, should I need to take one for any reason.

Rules and guidelines change rapidly. My personal guidelines are more stringent than CDC.
But seriously, I added fair to my title because I think that's a consideration for some.
