8. I got it in 4 tries too but I struggled with the first 2 letters.

Lots of people will tell you to start with a word with lots of vowels, but that strategy didn't work on today's wordle.

9. I agree. I think the developers have caught on and are purposely using less vowels in the word.

15. It's never worked for me.

Been trying for about the last few puzzles after reading a tip here. I think the developer may be on to this trick.

Obscure, infrequently used (unless you're a geologist or a JFK conspiracy nut)---and with two silent letters.

I solved it in five, but it took awhile to arrange the letters.

Isn’t this puzzle created by a Brit? If so, I’m always keeping an open mind about relatively obscure words being possibilities. I do a lot of crosswords on the Guardian site, where solving can be a challenge.

16. Yeah, a few days ago the word was "shire."

Lots of shires in Britain; over here, we refer to them as "counties."

I guess we ought to be grateful the game doesn't come from China.
