be it kittens or puppies, will be either the largest male or the loudest female. I get a kick out of watching the kittens in the stray jail. Kitten season is upon us now. We had two litters yesterday, one of 5 who were 5 weeks old and had been there a couple of days and one that came in yesterday and were almost 3 weeks.
The 5 week old kittens were hilarious. Their mom didn't want us looking at them, but they would get out of the hide box, the two most adventurous ones anyway. One female is markedly bigger, darker, and louder than the rest, and she is obviously the leader. She knows how to use the litter box and eat kitten chow already, standing on her hind legs with her front legs on the bowl and her face down in it, chowing away. No doubt who the boss is there. That litter comprises 4 females and a male. Of the other litter, it's too soon to say. They had just come in and were busy nursing when I left, two little girls and a boy. I'm betting on the boy, who is the spitting image of his mom, a stumpy tailed long-haired blue and white lady. We also had a female in active labor when I left.
