Very cool ! I got one of the new Sally Ride quarters yesterday.

Although it was in my pocket change, it was so shiny and bright it could almost pass for BU. I think someone didn't know they weren't supposed to slip this into the register drawer !

The details are *VERY* sharp, even at actual size, and I have to say it is a very nicely rendered design for a coin. Kudos to the artists.

On the obverse, George now sports a ponytail, which he probably did as a soldier in the field.

I just never use it anymore. My debit card is easy and fast. Why does anyone carry cash money any more?

I'm still working on filling my National Parks quarter album. States album filled a long time ago.

If I was Emperor of the Earth I'd make coins a separate and stable currency, universal and strictly managed to resist inflation.

A "quarter" sized coin in my empire would buy you the local equivalent of a hamburger, fries, and a drink wherever and whenever you were -- 1950, 1970, 1990, 2010, or today. If you gave a kid a quarter it would have the same value it did when that kid's grandparents were kids.

Actually, I'd link my universal coinage to the price of beer, not fast food. For a quarter you could walk into any pub in the world, put a quarter down, and they'd give you a pint of beer that 85% of all beer drinkers find acceptable. Put two quarters down and they'd give you some kind of lunch as well.

Every human in my empire would get a stipend equivalent to four such coins a day.

It would be a great honor, bestowed by The Beneficent and All Powerful Emperor Hunter from his Invisible Space Fortress, to be represented on these coins.

Carrying a few dollar coins in your pocket is much more convenient than getting your wallet out every time you need a dollar bill. And great for paying tolls on windy days !

I've been carrying loose bills in my change pocket for some time, but they have a way of slipping out unnoticed, particularly when I sit down.
