Did your father have a favorite drink?

Mine did: The Manhattan.

He would have been 94 today. I'm enjoying a Manhattan at this very moment, thinking about the great times we had together.

My Mother was also a bourbon and water drinker.

The only hard liquor I drink is vodka martinis and hot toddy’s with brandy.

6. My Dad loved Old Milwaukee beer.

He and my Mom hardly drank at all mixed drinks.

11. Strictly a beer guy. Schlitz, PBR, Hamms, then Miller and a few others.

I was a fan of the Hamms "Clear Blue Water bears beer commercials"... I think it went out of business, sadly.

Jim Beam, which I still drink today. When we were out at a nice restaurant for a special occasion, he would order a Manhattan.

17. Scotch and water. One after work. A glass of wine with dinner and that was

it. He didn't drink after 8PM unless he was at a party. When he retired he would have a martini in the afternoon. Then one at night. He stopped drinking wine with dinner when he got old. Now he has a prescription at his nursing home. He never uses it. Sometimes on Xmas or birthdays I will give him a whiskey.

He made whiskey sours for his friends and family.

18. Beer.

His favorites were Cincinnati-brewed — Burger and Hudepohl. He also had Old Granddad, which I never saw him drink. My mom said he liked highballs, but I never saw him drink those either.

(Funny story about Old Granddad — when my nephew was teething, my dad would put some on his gums. Pissed off my mom.)
