Yes, that's the worst average that I ever saw reported by Wordlebot too. The highest average that I recall from the past (several months ago) was a low 5-something.

Hard mode doesn’t allow for guessing letter assortments beyond the unknown slots. It got me hard this time. And damned if parer was in my vocabulary so there’s that too. I would have gone with payer and pater before finding parer if ever.

The people who failed almost inevitably got stuck on the middle letter (of which there was like 8 that work), whereas I got lucky and played the R in the middle early.

By the time I got to 6th pick I was like ... it's either Karen or Parer, those were the only words I could come up with and I spent like 1/2 hour on that last guess. And I figured it wouldn't be Karen.

Tried SALET as my starter word instead of TRACE, which I had been using, based on a recommendation from an article based on MIT research. SALET is a variation of SALLET, which means "a light 15th century helmet with or without a visor and with a projection over the neck." After PAPER, Wordle Solver gave me a choice of PAVER, PAYER, or PARER. I guessed incorrectly on #3.
