At the Maritime Museum in Duluth at the edge of Canal Park, there housed are artifacts of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It is a somber reminder of Mother Nature's wrath.

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum & lighthouse at Whitefish Point in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has many interesting exhibits. If you're ever in the area, it's well worth a visit.

In 1975, I lived very close, minutes really, to Fairport Harbor on Lake Erie, listed as the home of a lost crew member, and close enough to hear the church bells toll in memory for the lost.

On my last trip there in 2003, I could see out off Lake Erie, cargo ships.

They do it every year on this date. Other unannounced dates too but always on Nov. 10th.
