Well it happened a long time ago,
almost fifty years back,
she was an Xray Technician and I was working in Reseach and going to night school
back in Michigan.
She was beautiful, and kind, and I couldn't believe she would consider me as being worthy to date.
I met her at a party for Union Workers at Wayne County General Hospital.
It was a swinging affair, they had a live band, I was working as a student in research going to school
and she had just received her certificate as an Xray tech, and we danced and talked, and then she gave
me her phone number.
Oh I waited a couple of weeks before I called, and when I did, she said her friend was the one who was really interested
in going out with me.
So, I was put off, but I called her friend. Her friend was nice but it didn't work out, so I called her back.
Well, she said, sure.
Anyway, she winded up moving to West Virginia where I visited her when she was picked to be in a play for the university.
I was nineteen at the time, she was a couple years older than I was.
She had a roommate in WV who I talked with while she went to work during the day,
and anyway, I was young and it just didn't work out the way I planned,
but it did.
It opened me up to the world when previously I was so shy, before that.
She had a nice little dog, and lived in an old Victorian style house, and WV is beautiful,
and hospital work is tough as nails, I wouldn't recommend it to many people.
You have to have a certain calling. Just like being a good teacher.
Frankly speaking, the harder you work at something, the more it
truly matters to you.
It is not so much what you think you want, because you never exactly know
what it is you truly want.

(1,264 posts)I feel like I've left a long trail of "what if"s in my wake.
Thanks for sharing your tale. Sounds like it could make for a good story.

(237 posts)yes, I guess it was my view this very late night.
why am I doing what I do, is always something people ask
themselves any time, you share the sentiment only once in a while,
after a few drinks, and later the next morning regret it.
anyone could be a writer, there is so much to say, a lot of descriptions
and phrase methodology, and encounters with depending on ones
age.
It's not really conducive to any conversation. Unless everyone speaks
in generalities without the use of the troupes.
Thanks!
