Here's the full list of federal holidays in 2023: https://www.calendardate.com/federal_holidays_2023.htm

Edited to add: I'm not a federal employee but I have the day off.

Because 1/1/23 fell on a Sunday, banks and post offices and federal offices are closed today, Monday.
Mostly everything else is open.

Any day my ex is off is a likely ‘working day’. We are remodeling her house so she can move back in and out of mine. I’m off on Wednesday thru Friday this week, when she’s back to babysitting the two year old granddaughter.

July 4, Veterans Day (November 11),Dec 25 (Christmas Day) and Jan 1 (New Years Day), the day off for federal, state, and many other workers is on Friday.

If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the day off is Monday.

Personally, as someone who always worked weekends and holidays, I think they should be observed on the day without an extra day off. Very mean-spirited of me, I know.

Meanwhile, Thanksgiving is always observed the fourth Thursday in November.

All the other federal holidays are observed on a Monday.

I took a vacation day since things are so slow at the moment. Normally, the 1st would be a paid day off if during the week. I'm not sure how that works for the weekend shift. I'm assuming they get the day off and we get what's called a floating Holiday to use whenever we want but they haven't sent out the 2023 schedule.
