'Potential or stored energy in the motionless weaved sticks is released and turned to kinetic energy when a catalyst is applied.'

However, the action is fascinating! (Even if it took more energy to place the sticks than was released by the firecracker.)

My second thought was, after freezing the video near the beginning, what could be the purpose of that one tan popsicle stick that is sticking out over the ledge, and not weaved into the rest.
